At first I was set on buying two 12w7's for $1050. Now I'm thinking about maybe getting two 12w6v2's for $650. Would it be really worth to spend the extra $400 for the w7's or would you recommened just getting the w6v2's.I listen to rap mostly and some r&b.

I already have a 1000/1, so I'm going to use that to push my pair of my subs. If I get the 12w7's I'll probably buy another 1000/1 down the road.

I'm open to buying 1 13w7 if that would be better?

ahhhh, yaaa

with 1000 bucks, i can get 6 15's that will wreck you and probably myself. Dont waste you money like that. Spendin a thousand on an amp OK.

But on 2 subs.......... Lay off the crack dude.

If it was me i'd do the two w6v2, just to save that much money.

At a recent show i went to. a guy with 2 12w6v2 hit 146 with one 1000/1 jl. i have one 13w7 and hit 142.6 with mtx1000d at 3 ohms. Just saying what i saw. There are other subs out there.

I heard two JL w7 12s in JL branded ported boxes on 800 watt rockford amp and they were not in any way loud, this kid had about 10g into his car and my 200 dollar sub and amp combo blew his away as far as SPL simple ti15d and a 600 watt JBL ported at 33. Mine also droppe way lower(obviously his boxes were tuned higher) IMO, Dont waste your money on expensive subs if your going to cut corners on the amp. Sell that JL amp and get a 1500 watt amp and one XXX 15 or 18 if you can fit it you will be very happy for SQ and SPL. You also will be way under your expected budget. Just think about my advice theres better stuff for teh money.

W7s don't perform untill you give them 1000w each IMO. At my audio store there is a 13W7 hooked up to a JL 1000/1 and it will suprise the hell out of you at how loud it is in that massive building.

However for the money I'd go for W6s or an XXX.

Right now I'm leaning towards the w6's for $650. Is that too much? That would be a better setup than one 13w7?

By the way I am open to suggestions if any of you have some ideas of a pair of subs I can get that will be better for my money.

I don't know how much room you have for a box (sealed or ported). I have two 12w6vs's sealed in 1.17^3 each with a little over 650w each. I am truly suprised at these woofers, I have only used JL for the past 7 years. I did have the v2's on a JL 1000/1 gain set to JL specs. This amp will push these subs fine.

I am in the process of upgrading my sub system.

After extensive research and hearsay, my debate was between 15"XXX, JL 13w7, and Eclipse Titanium 15". I can't remember the price I was quoted for the XXX's I'm thinking $400 plus shipping each. The w7's, for a warranty, you would have to purchase authorized at around $800 each. I purchsed the Eclipse Titaniums from a well known stereo shop for the sum of $499 each + tax with a 3 year warranty.

There is not another manufacturer that I can think of that even offers a 3 year warranty on their equipment.

My suggestion to you is shop around listen to people and to subs before you purchase anything. Keep in mind that you will probably want to upgrade in the future.

check out http://www.reaudio.com and look into a 15 XXX its $439.00 shipped and put it in about a 4^3 after displacement ported box and u will be set...i have a single 10w6v2 ported in a jl spec box tuned to 30hz and it does not get nearly as loud as i want but it is very accurate and it is also a 10 so know i am expecting too much out of it
