i cant burnout, why?

since we're on the topic of screwin ******'s and axles up here's a question. you're goin 60 and ya pop it into neutral and rev it a bit then ya wait for the rpms to go back down and ya put it back in drive. anything possible to go wrong here. i do it ocassionally and it seems ok. just wonderin if something could go wrong.
Whats the point of doing that? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

if you have a manual, when you let the clutch out to put it back in gear try to match the rpms with about what it would run at 60. it iwll make for a lot smoother shift. even if you have an automatic, still you can match the rpms with your speed and not hurt anything.

why would you even do that???

i dunno. it's jus fun.

only problem i see is if that with the colum shift is that reverse is right above the neutral so ya gotta put it into neutral carefully or reverse at 60 mph here we come.

most all trannys have a safety that prevents you slipping into reverse at high speeds. and if they dont have a safety catch, it still takes a **** hard shift to force it in.

you should have to pull back on the shift lever for it to go into reverse. if you just bump it up without pulling it back it should only go from neutral to drive, no other gears. try it when you are stopped just to be sure.

yea its a lil notch there

My lil nissian 4 banger 2.4 liter will spin the tires all day, though it has a paper light rear end and its a manual. Any one ever power shit with thier manuals, Its where you shift the gears without the clutch, its pretty fun. And if you do it right the gear just slips right in nice and smoothly. Do it wrong and youll hear it.

try mostly through 3rd gear and then were talking.
With a 4-speed auto, the amount of torque necessary to spin through third (which with my gearing starts around 90mph) would probably destroy the transmission before it could even finish the 1-2 shift. If I'm ever making that kind of power, I'll have a nicely reworked suspension, wheelie bar, and drag radials before I start setting the boost to 20psi (since the only way to see that much power is through a turbo conversion).

That said, I've spun well into 2nd on cold days. In the rain, though, I actually experienced having traction control engage while going up a hill with the cruise control set at 55. That was surprising, and quite funny.
