I am wondeinrg if I need a bat. Also

I drive a 99 vw passat with stock alt. and some random starting bat. under the hood.

I will be running an Alpine 4 chan amp 75wrms

Also will be running an alpine mono block 1000wrms

& finally a 2 chan. rockford unit doing 65wrms

I really can't do a big 3 because I cannot get to any of the wiring in a german car for the life of me, or I just **** with cars. So I was wondering if I got a 2nd battery and a cap if that would work fine. All power wiring is 0/g.

Feel free to make any suggestions and or links to where I could buy a batt. @.

id get a kinetik 1400 as a second battery. it isnt too big, its agm low esr, and has a good bit of reserve for its size.

I coulnd't tell you how many amps but I would say between 70-80

can you see your batter and your alternator? If so then you CAN do your big three

I can see the battery, thats the easy parts, and I can also see the top of the alt. BUT all the wiring is underneath somewhere and so is the engine... ...Thats German Enginering...

if you need any help on that passat i had a 98 and have an 03 the stock alt is 90 on the 1.8t and 120 on the v6. I dont konw why you say you cant do the big 3...you must have the v6....If you have the 1.8t then the bolt for the alt power is on the back of the alt not the underside. You can reach it if you unbolt the coolant tank(plastic thing) just unscrew it not remove it. or you can try and reach it by the throttle body there is a slot that you can get through. its pretty easy and ill get you pics of mine if need be

with a stock alternator and good clean connections your stock wiring will likely be adequate. as for adding a second battery do so if you do alot of listening with the engine off, otherwise not necessary.
