I am confused on RE's sub specs!

When I ordered my SE-12 from them that I have in my Honda listed here I asked what was the best box for it. They said a 2.0 cubic foot sealed with 600 watts going to it. That's what I did! Well now I am about to get started on my truck and was thinking about going two SE-10's in it. I found a truck that already has all of what I want to do done to copy from: http://www.sounddomain.com/ride/118335/1

Except I will be sealed. The RE site says my SE-12 should use a 1.0 cubic foot sealed. Why did they send me drawings and suggest a 2.0? I could have actually had some trunk left in the Honda if it doesn't play any different.

I then start looking at their site and a standard RE-10 takes more sealed volume than a SE-10 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif I think I can get .70 cubic feet per side if I build a box similar to the one listed. According to RE's site the SE-10's need .63. Now I am totally confused //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

Enclosures will vary from application to application. I don't see a 2 cubic foot sealed anclosure taking up too much space. I'm sure they recommended that to you for a reason, and I see no need to stray from it. If you're happy with it, why complain?

Decreasing the internal volume will probably not satisfy you as much as you may think. Cutting enclosure size in half is going to have a drastic change in response, and you may or may not like it. It may tighten up the driver, but your lowend and efficiency will suffer.

I've e-mailed them several times and gotten no response //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. Also I thought the website said those 12" RE's needed like 150w rms not 600w. I didn't think they were in that power range.

My complaint is only that I have a box that is 1/2 size to big. I could have had more room back there.
You can't have a box half size to big. You can have a double sized box...

So make a smaller one. I don't think I'm getting your question. If the box is to big, make it smaller.

I guess my question is what works better? I didn't go the 1.0 route from jump because they said do a 2.0 box. I don't know how the 1.0 would sound. Is it worth the investment to try it? I take the people that make their stuff to be the experts so when they give me info including a drawing I do as told. I found this information out later and wonder if I have my stuff messed up of would a smaller box do the job.... with more trunk space.

Are you just looking at the RE-12? The SE is 600W RMS and 1200W Max. Then if you go on the ladder to a XXX it is like 1500 RMS and 2500W Max.

Toss 1cuft worth of *something* into your current enclosure so that you are left with 1cuft net. If you like the sound better, build a 1cuft enclosure. If you don't like it, then you know why they told you to go with a 2cuft enclosure.

I decided to dial them up today. Someone goofed! They said 2.0 is way too big and said 1.0 is correct. Now I don't know what to do to correct this problem. They sympathized with me having bad info sent my way on box size though. It is what it is now.... What can I do since now I have this box? Maybe a bigger sub, cut a new board for the front if that is possible, sell it the way it is... don't know.

cut a new board,or boards to make it smaller or like someone sai get a piece of 2x4,cut it into lil slabs and screw them inside the box to make the airspace smaller (this is what i would do,easy and cheap //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif )

or I guess you oculd possibly port your current box and tune it low //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

x2!!

If ou tune it low it will have a nice low end extension.. nice and rumbly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I always had sealed and decided to go with a ported box (30hz tuning) and I will never go back to sealed unless i need to fit it in something very small
