HUGE alty whine since new amp

I never had that kind of problem. Power wire are away from the rca

I just did a swap from my brutus to some dat prototype 5k amp and i get a whine as soon as i hook the rca. It's awfully annoying

my 2 ground on that new amp aren't the same exact lenght... one is like half a feet longer than the other one. Both are grounded at the rear batt.

could this be the problem? if not can the amp be the source of the problem

like i said prior, nothing else was changed but the amp

avic 900bt... never had problem with that prior.

i made my own ground for the hu, same ground for the equalizer. 7 volt preout.

batt in rear is grounded at the same place as the mb quart (the amp that gives me the whine) and the amp i swapped was grounded there too prior. now the sub amp is grounded dirrectly at the batt, two runs of 0, just not the same EXACT lengh

when i unhook the sub amp rca, whine is gone, when i put them back i get the whine on the other amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

ok i just read what it was about //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

but the rca themself are connected to the equalizer.. only one output from the deck is going into the main input of the eq.

also there is absolutly no noise when i don't hook up the sub amp. Can't have something to do with the hu ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

worst is the the voltage is the same everywhere in the car, no signifiant drop anywhere.

would it help if i put a small wire ( let's say some 16ga) from the grounding place in the rear to the ground in front? just to "stabilize" the voltage some more... even if there's no difference on the dmm.

also will grounding the rca help the "pico" fuse problem.

Yeah, it's possible that since you hooked the RCA's up with the system powered on, that you could've blown the pico fuse. What you need to do is take a piece of thin gauge speaker wire and strip ALL of the insulator off. Then take the raw wire, twist it up, and wrap it in a figure 8 around the outside of the RCA jacks on the headunit. You should have a long enough wire that after wrapping it around the RCA jacks you can then wrap the wire around one of the screws in the back of the headunit and tighten the screw grounding the wire to the H/U's chassis. So long as your headunit itself has a good ground as well, it might solve your problem. Good luck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
