HU help. Remot operated system

I'm looking for a friend that is refurbishing his 67 Camaro. He wants to leave the factory radio in the dash, but upgrade the sound system. No, he will not be USING the factory radio, but he wants to leave it in for appearances. Also, it looks like less of a target to theives. He just wants a wired remote, and an operating system that will give him good sound. I thought that Sony made something with a wired stalk remote, that you could mount to the center console. But, not sure. Open to suggestions...
