HU grounding issue?

I can have the sub unplugged and then when I crank my HU, my lights in my car dim to the beat and all my climate control lights/speedometer dim too. When I have the sub blastin it doesn't make it any worse(500w rms). Would you blame all this dimming on a poor deck ground or...? This is a pioneer deck btw deh-p4000UB running of the the stock ground wire in the back of the HU.

well in some cars the factory batt and alt **** i put a 500watt rms system in a friends 91 jeep and everything dimd....so depending what car it is that could be the problem

The 500w doesn't affect the dimming so that can be ruled out. But when I take my RCA's and just run through the HU my lights dim and shit. Running 4 speakers off the deck too.

Check the wireing on the HU... Look for the ILUM wire from the car and see what it is hooked two. I had a problem with lights in my car dimming on my first instal because the wire harnes from the car had two brown wires on ilum and one was a speaker and i mixed them up... didnt do any thing to the speaker but the lights went all crazy with the bass hits. could be somthing similar.

Also when sitting idle with my interior lights they seem to flicker even when no power is being used.

I had a problem with lights in my car dimming on my first instal because the wire harnes from the car had two brown wires on ilum and one was a speaker and i mixed them up... didnt do any thing to the speaker but the lights went all crazy with the bass hits. could be somthing similar.

Well I tested my car with a DMM and with it on it was about 14.2v idle iirc and with the car off it was about 12.9v

I'm thinking theres a short behind my deck or bad ground causing voltage drops on my stock electrical system therefore my subwoofer wouldn't affect anything cause it's running off it's own power run. This sound right?

The flicker on my dash climate controls is a very odd flicker too goes up and down like the voltage is all over the place. Note it also does this with the car off just running off straight battery.
