HT Enclosure Design for 8 incher...r

Ok, I got a Kicker Comp VR to spare, and I want some bump in my room...

What would be the best enclosure design?

Just ported?

I was thinking about something crazy, like horn enclosures, anything that will get the most out of this 8..

The frequency response is 30-500 Hz...

Any ideas???

I dont know anythgin about BLH enclosures but I'd imagine you'd be well off with a nice ported enclosure tuned low...

Bandpass maybe? An 8" isn't sufficient for a good HT system anyway. Look into at LEAST a 10", 12" is good and 15" is better.

I'll put the 8 in my brother's truck this weekend, and find something a little more suitable...

An 8" will be just fine in your bedroom, unless your room's huge. If you would post your T/S parameters for your speaker I could recommend an enclosure for you.

Ohhh, it's a bedroom. Either way, step it up for a HT. Remember, there is no cabin gain in home audio and there's a good 10x more air that it needs to excite.

Good design, but def. not for HT......far too weak below 35hz or so

There is gain in a room it's just at a much lower frequency usually around 30hz. Once again dependent on room size.

No shit genius, the point was that whereas in a car an 8" might have some good bass due to cabin gain, you don't have that luxury in a large room inside a home.
