Hows this Infinity sub?

Not sure how much was changed between versions but I had the previous Infinity Reference subs in the 12" size and they treated me very well. Had each sub in 1.25ft^3 sealed and at first was giving them 150w and then later on 300w each and they sounded great and had plenty of output for me in my little plymouth acclaim.

I think I got mine in a similar way as you, were buy one get one free and got the pair for $118 brand new after tax and everything. I would personally say go for the Infinities over the JBL's however I have no personal experience with the JBL's

I got 350w going to mine and it sounds great with decent output.....

I ran 2 12" Reference series in 5 cubes gross tuned to 35hz on a Hifonics Brutus BX1500 until the amp fried and it got plenty loud, then the box went into my friends trailblazer and was running on 2 500wrms-ish lanzar monoblocks for another 8 months or so, then switched to an alpine MRP-850 and still going stong, probably about 2 years or more since they were first hooked up. i got them buy-one-get-one-free @ best buy, 100 bucks. great subs for the money.

I think based on the rest of the responses I am going to go for the Infinity set. I'm not looking to blast my windows open. I hardly ever turn the sound up high because I value my hearing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I just want it to kick hard that's all.

Would this amplifier work well with 2 of those Infinity's? I can get it for $250

I don't quite understand how RMS works....so if I put 2 of those infinity's with this amp, how would it stack up?

ok i think i screwed up, I just bought 2 infinity 1052w's dual 4 ohm coils, I just realized i can only wire these both together to acheive 1 or 4 ohms. I have a jbl gto3501 360 watt mono amp and that rating is at 2 ohms. It pushes only 225 watts at 4 ohms. Am i wrong in thinking that if i wired the coils in series and the speakers wired in parallel that i would achieve 4 ohm at 225 watts? Does this in a sense make the 2 woofers 1? And thus each woofer getting 225 watts? Am i underpowered? im not trying to bump to hard im looking for clarity and sound quality above all. The subs will be going in a 06 f150 crew cab in a sealed box downfiring into the floor? Do i invest in another amp or will my amp be sufficient? Thanks

If you bought them from a stor nearby try to trade in for a d2 version then wire in series. Otherwise you will need a 1ohm stable amp or an amp that does apx 500wrms @4ohm. But yes you are overpowering the subs. Its not necessarily a bad thing. If the output achieved is good enough on that power for you then I would just stick with that setup.

Well i think im going to wait and see each sub will be getting about 100 watts each and ill see if i can live with it, although i doubt being that they will be in a sealed enclosure
