How's 140.4 dB on 2 12"s sealed?

i wanna know how that mic stacks up to the termlab... then ill give you my opinion //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
They are approx 1-2DB down from the new TermLab. Its close to the AC190 being that it takes the highest and not the average DB.

There is an "average" mode in addition to a "peak" mode. What I did was run it about a dozen times on "peak" mode. Of those I hit 142.1 peak once, and 140.4 three separate sessions. So, I didn't claim a 142.1 dB system, since it didn't do it on demand. It will trigger 140.4 regularly though. That is, assuming the thing is capable of reliable measurement. To know that, I'll need to get this system measured on different devices. If It's hitting 140.4 on the others, we can safely assume the splmeter.com device can be trusted. To be continued...

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Car Sound and Performance did a review/test on the SPLMETER.COM DBM2 in the Spring 2005 edition. "It tracked very closely to some of my other more expensive SPL meters", "The only shortcoming is its lack of placing different weighting filters on the unit".

My friend has the DBM2 also and like I said it is very close to the AC190 I was hitting 146.? on the DBM2 and well, look in my sig. It is a great unit, id like to get one myself. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Great info! That's what makes forums great. Thanks man.

Quick pics -- hitting higher numbers on different rap tracks -- Up to 142.5 dB -- close to double the SPL measured at the time I originally posted this thread!

My neighbor came over to tell me his chandeliers were shaking and he was trying to figure out what was going on (I had the truck completely sealed/windows up!)

142.5 dB:

Im wondering if the DBM2 measures the highs too due to the no weighting filters?? Try a tests tones and see what ya get for a measurement. Ill get my friend over here and test his out.

Yea, check his out and let me know. My averages have consistently gone up, the lower the bass frequency tunes go. I'm also getting a litte "braver" with my volume knob.

PhatTony, got some pic's here bro'.

Does that meter just plug into your cigerette lighter and is instantly ready to take measurements? If so I may just have to get one.
Yes sir. Lighter plug and ready to go (almost) instantly (it performs a quick self-test at power-on each time).

If you're a "tweaker", this is a great tool. You can, potentially, get significantly more output by repositioning woofs, than you would by buying new ones or a bigger amp (both of which options can easily cost more than this tester).
