How's 140.4 dB on 2 12"s sealed?

Just got the splmeter.com dbm2 and ran a quick test with some rap. Hit 140.4 max on one of the songs, on the dash.

Pair of 12" Type X 12" subs in 1.35 cu ft net sealed each in an SUV. This is not set up to be a SPL system...

Not really wanting to run ported. I know it'll jump a good amount if I did. The curve now is quite nice.

I'll bet it sounds really good though......

I saw a huge improvement when i put my type r's in ported box...

And they still sound about the same sq wise.

That's around $700 though, right? Hey, if mr. JL Audio is willing to endorse this thing's accuracy, considering all that's at stake for doing so, I dunno... maybe it's not too bad. I've seen idiot's poorly test comp cars with TermLabs equipment in competition too. It's all relative, eh?

It could be off in your favor, find a shop with a tl and compare. It doesnt really matter though as long as it suits your needs.

I'll definitely be at the next sound-off in town (could be a year or more), but even if it were actually doing low 130's (doubtful), you're right... it is intense as hell, and suits my wishes entirely.

Hey man,

I'm thinking about getting a spl meter from splmeter.com, but currently I'm hitting 142.5 termlab and a 151.3 on the old mic. so I want to know which meter it is closer to! I plan on doubling the power and a few other things, I hope to go to 146-147 termlab and I dont want to get the thing from splmeter.com and hit 150db every time...So when you get a test on a Termlab post your number for it as well as what your splmeter.com meter measures..

No doubt I'll hit a sanctioned RTA some time hopefully in the next month but lemme tell ya...

SPL will be different depending on where the mic' sits too. If you're super-close to 150dB now (which it sounds like you are -- or higher), you're probably not going to register on the 150dB limit on the spl meter com machine. It's a great tool for tweaking, but for comparison to sanctioned measurements (IASCA, etc.), probably not the best you can do. It's a good price though, and seems pretty **** accurate for on-the-dash measurements so far.

termlab meter is like the splmeter.com meter it sticks to the windshield. The old mic was placed on the passengers front seat on a stand, probably about 1.5ft from the windshield. So I think that the spl will be measured pretty close to the same area as the splmeter.com meter!! Ya man, let me know how you do!!
