how well do subs work when installed upside down?

i was just wondering how well a sub would work if installed were its firing in the box? i have seen it done just wondering how good it sounded?

its the exact same if you reverse the phase. just a hair of extra volume in the box

180* out of phase means instead of moving out, it moves in, and vise versa.

The speaker doesn't fire "into" the box any more than it does when the speaker is mounted 'normally'. A speaker cone moves the same amount each direction, and will emit the same amount of sound in either direction.

i have my sub mounted "normal"....when i got my amp the phase shift was set at 180*....i moved it to 0* and it feels like it moves a lot more air out of the port.....makes it sound much loader....
