How to wire this system?

A friend has a stereo amp, the SPL DK-2000D and two dual 2ohm Image Dynamic IDQs in a sealed box. Right now they're wired to 4ohms, each on their own channel.

Here's the dilemma I'm having. Source is a Eclipse head deck, with 5v preouts and yet the gain still needs to be set at the max. There's no clipping, and it hits pretty hard, but still I find it REALLY strange that I have to max the gain on the amp. I had to put around 3-4dB of bass boost on. The amp is in LPF mode (full range amp) with the low pass set at 80 or so. The variable subsonic is set as low as possible, 30Hz.

I can't understand the website for the amp, I really have no idea how much power the amp is pushing to the two IDQs. I'm guessing 800RMS @ 4ohms means total, so each channel (sub) is seeing 400?

OH! It would help if I scrolled down the page I see.

370x2 sounds about perfect for these IDQs.

Alternatively I should be able to bridge the amp and wire each 4ohm speaker in parallel for a 2ohm load to the bridged terminal and split 900?

The amp is 2ohm stable, but I thought bridging normally doubles that number, to 4ohms?

Doesn't say 2ohm mono stable, I would assume if it doesn't say, it's not safe to do?
you are correct. run that puppy at 4ohm stereo, or get some new subs or a amp. how is the sub gain set on the head deck? have you checked the hu settings yet? could be turned down all the way bringing your volts down to around 1 or less causing you to turn the gain up all the way. just a thought.

I mean thats how I set it up initially. Went through the head deck and everything I could think of. For some reason the level is just very, very low.

The RCA's we're using came from a really crappy amp wiring kit. I have a feeling this might play at least a small part in the overall problem.

It sounds good at full gain though, and no clipping. I've never had to set an amp up like this before but I suppose if it sounds good it's all good right? :\
