How to wire 2-ohm?

I tried getting this answered in the actual sticky, but it must not be viewed often.

I need to take a Mono channel amp, 2 ohm stable, and wire a subwoofer also to 2 ohm. The diagrams shown show that wiring it the way they did, and it shows that it drops the load by .50.

If there is no way to avoid wiring the sub down to 1 ohm, will a 2 ohm stable amplifier be able to handle 1 ohm daily, and will the subwoofer be able to handle the extra output at 1 ohm?

Subwoofer is a Phoenix Gold x10d2; Dual Voice Coil 2 ohm 450 RMS.

thanks for any help,

~Levi

your amp needs to be either 1 or 4 ohm stable. that sub can be wired only to 1 or 4 ohms.

IF ur amp is built solid it might be able ot take a 1 ohm load. But if I were u I'd sell the sub and get a daul 4 ohm version, or trade someone for a dual 4. U can still always wire it to 4 ohms for now so u can at least have some bass.

I'll be hooking it into the Xenon 400.1, which states it is stable at 1,2, and 4 ohm loads with no loss/gain of power. I've seen benches at around 450RMS from that thing, so I'm aiming at that highmark //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

U cant wire a single dual 2 ohm sub into 2 ohms.....n00b
Some 2 ohm amps can take 1 ohm, some can't....*shrugs*
Gotta love em //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Of course I am a newb to this...hence the question. Thanks for the vividly detailed observation.

Xenon line = discontinued, but buyable BNIB at alot of sites.

Your best bet is the Rsd 600.1 amp for brand new current line //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
