How to tune gain on strapped amps???

I am afraid my amps might be clipping due to a buring smell from subs. My problem is I am lost in how to tune them. I have tuned amps before with a 50HZ cd and a DVM. I have 2 re audio xxx 12's. They are hooked to 2 hifonics brutus BXI 2610D's. The subs are wired to 2 ohms, but the amps are strapped making it a 1 ohm load. I would like to give each sub 2000 watts, as that is what they handle. How in the he** do I figure this out. What voltage do I aim for, what leads do i disconect, what leads to i measure voltage on, ect ect.. Never messed with strapped amps...............Any help is appreciated!!

Do you actually have them strapped, or are you just trying to gain match them while separately powering each driver?

There strapped and in master/slave mode

Set master amp. Set second amp to slave. All slave amps go off master settings

I just pussed out and ordered a SMD DD-1 , but now i know to just use that on my master amp!
