most powerful DC power supply on the market?

Is anybody here knowledgable enough to build one? I've seen online articles about building high power DC power supplies but I don't feel comfortable enough with the nomenclature to build anything.

custom from MM. One of my buddies got a 350 amp from MM for $650.. They get spendy but their worth every bit

Mechman?

How much current are you looking for? Got a link to any of the schematics? I could build one fairly easily, not sure if I could design one though (my power electronics professor would be disappointed in me saying that, haha, Although I do still have my book...).

Yeah, I have designed some PSU's based from what I learned in my circuits class but they are all ideal and I really don't know if I can find the components with values that I used and stuff.

Check this out @bubbagumper6 and see what you think. At the bottom there is mention of building more powerful supplies than the one designed here as well.
High Current 13.8V Power Supply

Thanks

our shop had a 300A supply... i'm trying to remember the brand. it was not custom. we let it go for like $80 when the shop closed. i was not there anymore to take it off their hands. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

what size depends on what you need to do.

maybe look for some salvaged commercial grade UPS's or lighting inverters. they'll have AC-DC inverters capable of a lot of current.

I really have no idea what the cost of each component so it's whatev. Is there A place where you can just put all the parts in a shopping cart to see what the total price would be?

I haven't found anyplace that sells transformers large enough...that link you posted says 300VA for every 10A of current or 3kVA for 100A. The cheapest I've seen on any of my normal parts sites are a couple hundred each and we would need a few...I think we would have to get them from a more dedicated transformer supplier but I haven't had time to look for one yet.
