How to test an amp

I need to figure out if its my sub thats blown, or my amp that isnt putting out power. The amp turns on, but nothing happens. Is there a way to use a DMM to check for power output to speakers?

Plug the dmm into the speaker outputs. Check voltage

No power when testing with a DMM through the speaker terminals =[

Signal to the amp? Any lights to light up on the amp? Checked the ground? Checked the fuse for your power wire?

switch the DMM to DC, you should be getting something between 13-14v for the power inputs. switch it to AC, and you should be getting a reading from the speaker outputs.

make sure your ground is secure and like trancer said to check any fuses that may have blown

you can always use some wire and touch one set of terminals, at a time (if its a dual vc sub) to your car battery. if the cone moves, the subs fine.
