how to test a ground?

ok so i tried to test my ground today with a DMM resistance(20k), and am not sure if i did it corectlly........ u tell me.

ok so i wired an 8 gauge strand to my - on my batt and ran it to were my amp is , i touched one end of my DMM on the 8 gauge wire and the other on my ground for my amp. and came up with a resistance of 0.00 is that normal to have no resistance? did i do this correctly ?

Did you zero the meter first? Even the test leads have some resistance.

Chances are that your DMM is not nearly sensitive enough to measure the resistance of a good ground. You also have it set to 20K which is 20,000 ohms. I really hope that you got a zero reading with that range set. Set it to 20 if you want to give it a try, but I still doubt that you'll get anything. 1/1000 of an ohm is in the ballpark of what you're lookng for.

on my dmm, I get 1.00 when I touch the two ends together, and I make sure I get that on all my grounds.

Well you can just use it an see, or you can use it and measure the voltage difference between the amp neg and the battery neg. You should get basically zero with the system playing if the ground is good.
