c: (NTFS on drive 0) 14.76 GB 1.60 GB free

d: (FAT32 on drive 1) 4.30 GB 3.91 GB free

e: (NTFS on drive 0) 26.22 GB 9.44 GB free

Do harddrives work like memory?? Are there open slots??? Also, what type of harddrive should I look for?

(I will prob ditch my D: Drive, will a new one fit there?)

Make sure those are different physical drives...might just be 1 physical drive with 3 partitions.

Cache is like "memory" for a hard drive. For example, if you have an 8MB cache on a drive, and you request a 5MB file from the drive, the second time you request that same file & there's not been any disk activity, it might come from the cache instead of the disk platters. Hard drives are VERY slow compared to memory.

RPM is speed of the drive...7200rpm is the norm pretty much. I still got some 5400 ones laying around.

As far as will it fit: depends if you have enough bays in you case. Your drive is most-likely a 3.5inch drive. 5.25 is the spec for CD-ROMs. You can grab 3.5->5.25 adapters. I'm guessing this is IDE & if you only have one CD-ROM/burner, you have room for 3 hard drives (as far as your motherboard goes).

yea.. and if your motherboard dosen't support anymore drives, you can get a pci card. and as far as space, open your case and look at the front bottom corner and see if you have extra drive bays.
