How to take off gear knob?

I was told to just pull hard untill it finally comes loose... but i want to make sure there are no other ways to doing this. Any of all ever changed out gear knobs and have some info?

nah its an automatic, i just want to take off the knob of the gear shifter, but there aren't any screws. it kinda feels like to would pull off but i dont wanna take the chance of breaking it

look near where the shaft meets the head facing the engine there is a screw
