How to swap amps?

I am going to try an amp tomorrow in my vehicle to see if I want to buy it. I will be replacing the one currently in there and just wondering what I have to do as far as electrical safety.

I play to disconnect my old amp, then hook up the ground first, then the power cable, then the remote turn on, then the RCA's.

Do I need to disconnect a battery cable or will taking the fuse out be good enough? Is that step even necessary?

The amp I am going to buy is similar watts to what is currently in there.

I'm not too experienced at this car audio game just yet but I'm pretty sure the FIRST thing you must do is disconnect your battery if your switching equipment. You dont wanna take the chance of blowing your current equipment and the amp that your testing out and end up having to pay for two broken amps.

Second. I'm not sure what ohm load your subs are wired to but you wanna make sure that the amp your switching to will be stable at whatever load you are attempting to get out of it.

Third. Proceed to do all the connections that you listed but only after you've done steps 1 and 2.

Did I miss anything?

pull the fuse, make sure the radio is off, connect them in any order you like just make sure their all connected and secure, plug the fuse back in, turn the key on and turn on the radio, -enjoy

don't forget about gains
