How to screw sub in all carbon fiber box?

Hi All,

New to the audio forum and had a random question: I have built a carbon fiber box that was molded to fit in one portion of my car, but am running into some questions before I mount my subwoofer. Since there is no wood in my box (all carbon fiber), I'm not sure what the best solution is to mount the sub. Should I try t-nuts? Wood screws? Place wood in the back/front, bolt together, then mount the sub?

Any suggestions or past experiences would be greatly helpful!

imo, your best bet would be to use an mdf or plywood ring (cut in half to get it into the box) glued/clamped to the inside of the baffle, then t-nuts and corresponding machine screws can be used as to not tear up the mdf or c/f and still get a superior seating/seal

Thank you for the info guys. I agree that this could have been built differently, but what are your best suggestions for the scenario at hand? No pics at the moment, and again thank you for the tips!

Best bet would be to make a ring out of some MDF or plywood so you can mount the sub into it, then cut the ring in half so you have 2 pieces. Put the pieces in the box where the sub will be mounted, glue/silicone them to the box and let it sit and cure. I would definitely use T-nuts or something that bolts it, screws aren't going to be that ideal.

If you get pictures of the enclosure and thickness and such we could help you out with some ideas. The general idea of putting some sort of wood behind it is more then likely on of the better ideas, but if you can get any pics it would help us all suggest what to do.
