How to remove chrome door handles

My friend has a set of 4 chrome door handles. He installed it with pre-applied Red 3M tape. Now its hard as shit to take it off. He said he will sell it to me for $20 so I really want to know how the hell we can get this off...suggestions?...

Giant hammer.

Better yet, just use a sledge hammer and it should come right off.

Well that was a dumbass installation on his part... You could try to spray WD-40 behind the handles and see if it weakens the glues bond. If that doesnt work, pry them out with a screw driver.

mine is an 05 expedition his is the 03 but doesnt matter it fits my car

x2 Or a blowdryer if thats not accessible, gonna take a while to heat those 3M pads though, since they are behind the handles...

If you have a heat gun, give it a shot... You underestimate the power of heat.

When I do get it out though should I go to Home depot and buy some M3 red tape and put some on the inside of the handles to insure that they will stay on my car?

Guess its worth a try. Any other ideas? I wont be at the computer tomorrow so I want to gather as many ideas as possible so I can get the handles tomorrow.
