How to make your trunk sound good

I'm in the process of moving my current temporary setup to my trunk for a more permanent install. Whats the best way to go about this? So far i have a trunk pack of dynamat pro.

I just dont want to lose any SQ or loudness from my sub when i move it from my back seats.

This is my box i had designed for me. I am going to leave a seat or all my back seats down. Sub up port back.

37w x 14h x 22d, 4 cubes @ 34.5hz with 62.5 sq in of port

Cuts:

37 x 22 (2x, top and bottom)

37 x 12.5 (back)

30.5 x 12.5 (front)

21.25 x 12.5 (2x, sides)

15.5 x 12.5 (port wall 1)

5 x 12.5 (port wall 2)

45 degree corner piece in port is 4 to 4 1/8" long on the bigger side of it

I was told to make the box no more than 14" high thou. Something about the sound waves canceling each other out with taller boxes.

I mean right now it sounds amazing and blows away every other system iv heard in my town.

And yes this is not for competing. I am considering adding another Deathrow thou //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

wait... you have your setup in your back seat???

well, depending on the car you may lose a large portion of sound quality not cause of the speaker, but the car itself. depending on the amount of pressure that the sub can create you are most likely going to head a lot of trunk and rear panel rattle.

for my next setup/rebuild, i have to front fire my sub into the cabin and seal it off of my trunk to reduce any trunk flex. that should remove any panel noise and trunk noise. or so i hope..

Actually the trunk doesn't rattle but my back shelf area above my back seats does a little. There is minimal rattling outside my car. This is my temp. setup.

Do you guys think i'm losing loudness or sq by having my box resting on my back seat like that from the free space in my trunk?

I'm not sure about cancelation issues but if the box is too big it will choke the sound in the trunk( not allow the air to move freely into the cabin). I wanna say my box is 15 high.

It'll be louder almost definitely in the trunk, might lose some SQ cuz you'll have alot more rattle most likely, and it'll definitely rattle alot more outside the car, but inside it should sound fine, depending on how much air passage there is from your trunk to the cabin and how loud the trunk lid and other parts of your car are when they are resonating
