how to keep amps/subs from clipping?

if i have 2 kicker l7's 12" powered by a zx1500.1 amp how will i keep from the amp and subs clipping?

dont turn the gain up to much

 

[Relax 10+ year member]

turn the amp gain down. turn the head unit gain down. turn volume up. turn head unit gain up till you hear clipping. turn down head unit gain a little. turn amp gain up till you hear clipping. turn amp gain down a little. done.
