How to hook up an eq?

my pioneer headunits rca outputs do not work so i was thinking about buying the clarion EQS744. from what i understand i can hook up the rcas from the amp to the eq instead of the headunit. But how would i hook up the eq to the headunit, is it through the headunits rca outputs or through the wiring?

just trying to find away around from sending my h/u to a shop if i can buy an eq instead

most likely through the RCA's unless it it a LOW END Eq.

See what kind of inputs it has.. Either RCA or Speaker Level inputs....

Looks like all RCA inputs to me. What happened to your radio outputs, are you SURE they are toast?

perhaps you can buy a line converter and throw it on your radio??

Turns speaker outputs to RCA's most often used when hooking up an amp to a OEM headunit

It accepts RCA's. One option would be to get a knockdown (LOC or hi to low adaptor) and wire it to your headunit's speaker wires then you plug your RCA's into that. Or you can get one of the knockdowns and hook it up to probably the front speaker wires then have one set of RCA's going to that EQ. Personally I would recommend an EQ to anyone (minimum a 7 band graphic EQ). Let me know if you have any questions.

cool man, or is there a way to connect the eq differently than using the rcas of the h/u? or is there a decent eq that does not require going to the rcas?

interesting, so how im reading it i can connect the converter you linked to the headunit on one end with the 4 speaker wires and buy a male-male rca cable to connect this to the eq on the other end, then have the rca cables from my amplifier connect to the eq?

If your h/u RCA outputs dont work, and you dont know what a LOC is... how are you running an external amp now? Or is this to avoid fixing your h/u you just fried?
