How to get more punch out of 2 Type R 10's

They take extra power just fine, but start with the box. You may want to add more power later, but the box will make the biggest difference for you.

For rock, you might want to tune a little higher though...maybe 38hz or so. Lower tuning and the kick drums won't have as much punch to them. Anywhere from 2-3ft3 for both and you'd be fine.

well ive used multiple type rs ..ive had a type r 12 and 15 ..i had over 1000 watts to the r 12 and about 2000 to the 15 and it worked just fine..just make sure its clean power..but as for the 10s id say about 2.5 cubes would be nice and id go around 36 to 38 hertz...the rs def have some good output..a guy on here has actually done 150 decibals with one type r 10..but like the others reccommend id go with a box first cuz ur already gonna notice a huge difference even with the same amount of power..but ud be fine if u added about 500 watts

Believe me, I definitely know there are better amps than Kenwood, but it seems like they're hard to beat as far as price per watt. I'd love to get an amp like a Sundown or something, some IDQ, Type X, Fi Q, etc. subs, Focal components... it's just not in my budget as a college kid.

I read some reviews that the Kenwood eXcelon X1200M actually put out something like 1328 watts at 2 ohms. I know it's not the best or has the most features, but if you can show me something else that puts out 1200+ watts for under $250, I'm all ears.

Also, as I said, I'm planning on adding a 4 channel amp for my speakers soon. Recently, I was considering getting a 5 channel and reserving the 5th channel for a tacticle transducer (bass shaker) or 2. Almost every user review of any of the various brands that I have read has been positive. I feel like they're a pretty cool idea if installed correctly and crossed at the right frequency. I'm just kind of hesitant since the other side of me says it will feel too artificial.

Any thoughts?

theres a lot of amps for under 250, also i wouldnt worry about a bass shaker,

get a big box(2.5) tuned between 34-38(just like everyone sais)

R's arnt the best sub but they pound pretty damm hard for the money. get that box then get a solid 1200-1500 rms amp

and dont get a kenwood...

good luck!

The only sub $250 amps I see claiming over 1000W are no-name China brands on eBay, those quoting their max output as RMS output, or cheapo amps that claim to be 1 ohm stable. I have a hard time believing most of those could get close to their rated numbers. Even if they can, my subs have dual 2 ohm voice coils so I can't wire them to 1 ohm anyway. Please show me what you're talking about.

you need a big 2000 watt amp to get 1200 rms at 2 ohms but you can get really close ( 1100 watts rms ) with a good 15-1600 watt amp like the Hifonics bxi1610d ( 245 shipped ) or even better the MBQuart dsc1500.1 ( very under rated, roe site benched 1 at 1347 rms watts at 1.5 ohms and 12.8 volts!!! ) for 235 shipped. pm me if interested. bnib full warranty factory dealer authorized.

2.5-3.0 cf tuned at 38 will make those r's slam for rock. do a shared space box and tune it slot ported at 38 and you will love the kick it gives you.

Don't know why I hadn't found that Hifonics amp whe I was looking around. Even so, the frequency response for that amp starts at 35Hz which is very high for a monoblock sub amp. Most start at 20Hz or less. MBQuart is generally a good name, but at 2 ohms it's only rated at 750W. Even it's underrated.. maybe it'll do 850-900?

it will do well over 1000 rms at 2 ohms they clamped it on realmofexcursion, thee michael hughes uses that amp at .5 ohms with 2 ohms rise for a total of 1.5 active load at the amp in his comp car and he has a shitload of db wins under his belt lolz. he was pulling 1350 at 1.5 ohms so 11-1200 is very easy at 2 ohms and he did it at 12.8 volts!!

where did you get that spec from? thats the low pass filter cutoff not the amps freq response lolz either way who tunes their amp below 35Hz anyway? if you look the subsonic starts at 15hz which tells you the amp plays to at least 5hz since it is a 12db slope filter.

I got that spec from every site I've looked at that sells the amp. They all list frequencey response from 35-250Hz. Maybe one site got it wrong and all the others copied them?

Check:

They all say it.

The manual does not list the frequency response.

Ok, ok, I get it. Type R's can handle more power. I guess I'm more conservative with them than I should be //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

MGCauctions99 - I get "The website cannot display the page" when I try to search. Forgive me for asking questions.
