How to get mid-high range bass

I just upgraded my audio system with 2 12" subs and I'm running a JVC AV60 head unit with two Memphis 6.5 coaxial speakers in the rear deck and 6x9 pioneers in the doors. I drive a Dodge Challenger (2 door coupe). I noticed my mid-high range bass is weak. I was wondering if I should just put an amp on these speakers or should I buy some different/stronger ones? I don't want to sacrifice treble, as I do enjoy actually hearing lyrics and I do appreciate clarity. Any input/advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Most people on here don't run rear speakers at all. Get a decent set of components for the front and fully treat and deaden the doors. Really good speakers can sound shittty if they're not installed properly. @keep_hope_alive ; has multiple build logs on here showing the proper way to set up the your doors so you get good mid bass/sound out of them.

Properly treating the doors will go a long way. I actually did this with my last car when I first bought it, the system was still the OEM one. I did one door one weekend, the other the next. Just doing that dramatically improved the midbass response, it was easy to tell as I would pan the sound from one side to the other. I little later I upgraded the speakers & added my amps. People need to understand that getting good sound is highly dependent on a good install.

There's some good reading here....

you talking about bass guitars or kick drums?
I'm not sure exactly what makes the bass that I'm looking for, it just sounds like...bass. And I'm not sure which pioneer 6x9's I have as I bought them years ago. And yes all of my interior speakers are running off of the head unit.

What would he do for higher frequencies if he's running comps? From my understanding that's what coaxials are for.
What exactly do you classify as "mid-high level bass"?
I would assume he's talking about the 125-300hz area.

Coax just save space pretty much. It's a tweeter and woofer attached to each other. They don't sound as good (to me at least) as components.

What do you guys classify as "treating" the doors? I'm about to put damp pro in my front doors today and a little bit of spray foam to reduce the flex while still allowing my window to roll down. I know @keep_hope_alive does this thing with the pink fluffy stuff that I forgot the name of to reduce echos and phasing but I'm gonna wait until I put my new midbasses in to do that.

i would avoid spray foam completely. it has no benefit. if you want to stiffen the doors, laminate tublar aluminum to the metal. or even laminate treated plywood.

treating doors is a triple threat:

1. damping to reduce metal resonance - adding some stiffening is nice too.

2. absorption to control reverberation from the rear wave

3. transmission loss to greatly reduce rear wave noise and road noise from entering the cabin.
