How to find out mounting depth

I already have a fiberglass box and I was wondering if I could put a Brahma 10 in it. Do I have to take out the current sub and measure from the bottom of the box to the top??

what is the mounting depth of the sub? add about 2 inches to that and that would be the minimum depth that the enclosure would have to be.

The Brahma 10s mounting depth is 6.875" Make sure that it is more then that and you are golden. I have been told that you need more then 1" of clearance, but I have never ran into any problems.

Just mesure from the inside of the box out to the sub mounting lip.

My current sub in there has a mounting depth of 5 1/2 so it's going to be VERY CLOSE!!! But I've heard GREAT things about Brahma's in small sealed spaces (1 cubic foot) so as soon as I get the $$, I'm poppin a Brahma in there (assuming I have the space) and sellin the Diamond woofer. I am prob going to give away my Audiobahns since they are hard to sell (makes it even harder with a huge ported box) but live and learn!!

I only have 6 inches (SLIGHTLY above) to work with... any suggestions?

If your heart is set on a woofer with ~7 inches top-mount-depth, it shouldn't be too difficult to break out the jig saw and cut yourself a nice little spacer ring that'll pull it out a couple inches (may need to layer a pair of 3/4" MDF rings to work). It'll look... uh... interesting, but you'll get it in there. Just be sure the voice coil vent has enough breathing room. I've burned the back/inside of an enclosure from having the VC vent of the sub too close.
