How to disconnect butt connectors?

I currently have a Premier DEH-P550MP and am about to install my P860MP that just came in...the guy that installed my system before (when i was a noob) used a butt connector for just about every wire...is there any way i can reuse these butt connectors? and how do i get them off without destroying the wires (i wanna sell the 550MP later so i need this uninstall to be pretty clean...TIA...

just cut the wire at the connecter. if they are the ones i'm thinking of, they were crimped on and there is really no way of re-using them. just use electrical tape next.

pics of the connections of the HU...and if i do indeed cut them...would u recommend cutting them on the HU side or the car side...??

IMO doesnt matter. Either way its going to have to be rewired on either side.

but it looks alot better if you cut as close as you can on both sides of the connector, and remove it altogether. and it reduces clutter and junk stuck behind your dash.

so basically cut out the butt connectors...and restrip the car side of the wiring and twist/join the wires from the head to the car side sealing with electrical tape?

Or, you can get one of those DIY plug kits that all you do is strip the wires and put a special end on them, then stick the ends in the plug and connect the two plugs together. Thats what i did on my headlights, worked really nicely and everything is clean, plus it lookes like a pro did it.

they're designed for houses

the moving n stuff can loosen them

They're called molex connectors, works wonders.
