how to disconnect a cap

All you need to do is break the circuit back to the battery. You could leave the ground in and run the light parallel to that.

But the cap needs to be seperate from the charging system.

I have a tsunami cap how would I discharge it? I didnt have to use a key or anything to charge it. When I get my new amp do I have to discharge it when I hook it up to the cap?

grab a screwdriver and touch the positive and negative at the same time with the screwdriver then tell us what happens. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Lol, i did that on accident once //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif , lol, welding comes to mind when i think of this.

whats gonna happen if he doesnt discharge it and just take it out?
Lots of sparks.

Having charged caps lying around the workshop is usually a recipe for disaster...and once you've seen an electrolytic cap fail explosively, you learn to respect them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
