How to change impedance

sob, after getting it all hooked up, the newer amp's stupid protection light came on, and it was only getting power from my older amp, lame new amps...

They've tried, and you ignored them. The protection light came on because you wired everything wrong. You can't bridge all four channels of a four channel amp to a single coil speaker. It is not possible. I don't care what you think you have done, you didn't. It is actually amazing that it didn't go *poof* as soon as you turned it on if you did wire all four channels together. If you were only running on set of channels to the sub, then you were only getting the power of those two channels. Just because you didn't hook up the other two channels doesn't meant that the power from them will magically transition to the pair of channels that you have wired. It doesn't work that way. You had both subs wired to a single pair of channels and it wasn't loud enough, probably because the amp was current limiting because you had it wired to too low of an impedance. If you would have listened to what you were told above, you would have run one sub off each pair of channels and realized that that was going to get you the most power from that amp and sub combo and been content with that, but instead you had to insist like a little punk that you knew more than the people you were asking advice from. If you knew everything to begin with, why did you bother the rest of us?

No, the protection light came on to the newer amp when i tried wiring both amps up to the svc sub. It wasn't until trial and error that I realized that the protection light came on simply because i had wired an extra remote wire from one amp to the other amps remote wire, and the new amp didn't like it. I'm quite confident that when i bridged the four channel amp to one sub, that the sub's cone moved much greator than it did when only bridged from two channels, i'd say that the sub was getting at least %60 more watts. I didn't know everything to begin with, after hearing nothing but ********, i decided the only way was trial and error...

because his town has high concentrations of lead and mercury in the water supply and he is, consequently, mentally retarted.
LMAO, good call man good call....

I think we actually are a little nasty to n00bx's on here, but I think they have it coming. No one was nice to me when I didn't know anything.....

Ha ha, yeah that was a good one...

Hell, I TRIED to help him... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Surprise, surprise.

See above response. I'd say you were absolutely wrong here as jumping the remote activation input to another amp is a pretty common practice for some. Provided you aren't jumping 5, 6, or 20 things off of the remote activation output from your head unit this shouldn't be a concern.

I'm quite confident that when i bridged the four channel amp to one sub, that the sub's cone moved much greator than it did when only bridged from two channels, i'd say that the sub was getting at least %60 more watts.
I am supremely confident you are again, positively 100% wrong. You don't wire a 4 channel amp to have all four channels' output powering the same driver. It----Simply-----Won't------Happen. We're not trying to act superior on this point, fella. It is just inarguable fact. Amps are not built to be configured that way.

I didn't know everything to begin with
Apparently, no matter how hard people have tried to correct the situation, you still know less than nothing about the proper implementation of aftermarket car audio gear. You will not (or at the very least shouldn't) wire a 4-channel amp with all 4 channels on a single speaker. You do not (again, at least should not) wire multiple amplifiers to a single voice coil driver, no matter your feelings to the contrary. .

after hearing nothing but ********, i decided the only way was trial and error...
Heavy emphasis on the error part, friend. Do it your way if you insist and we truly hope you enjoy repeatedly destroying defenseless stereo equipment for your trouble. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

ok, considering that the cone does move much greator when the four channels are bridged into one speaker and the vibrations are much greator throughout the car, it must not be putting more power to it... After much consideration, i've decided that 2 amps are not enough for the speaker, so im going to hook 3 amps to one svc speaker today. 8 channels at 650 watts had better make this speaker reach it's potential!

I don't know if this has been made clear to you, but unless the amps are exactly the same and you "strap" them which I don't think you are doing, YOU CAN NOT HOOK 3 AMPS TOGETHER ONE ONE SVC SPEAKER!!!!!! What you are doing is not driving the speaker load but you are driving the other amp, WHICH IS BAD!!!!

how the fuc* did u wire 4 channels to one sub u jacka** listen to people on here u might learn something and really u should pick up physics book and learn ur **** b4 u try and prove people wrong and 60% more watts my ass more like twenty minutes of playin and then a smokey car because ur amp just blew ok u strap 3 amps together in ur car and i hope ur ****in sub and ur three amps blow juss to teach u a lesson

you sir. are an idiot.

please leave.

you won't listen to the people who KNOW what they are talking about as opposed to your narrowminded arrogant ignorance.

you are close-minded.

please stop.

go buy some audiobling equipment and keep frying new equipment as you keep spending money to replace it cuz you think you kno what's wrong and keep trying to "fix" it.

jackass.

that is all.
