Got a two channel sony xm-sd22x 500W RMS bridged at 4 ohm stable. run 2 svc 4 ohm subs off of it in sterio. could I buy another exact same amp and bridge both amps each running one speaker? How do I Bridge? Manual tells nothing and cant find anything online either.

Yup. You could run a pair of those amps bridged, each amp driving its own sub if you like. It makes for a bit more complicated install running a pair of amps rather than one larger one doing the same job but certainly it can be done.

As i do not know the specifics about that particular Sony amp here's the best I can do for you:

Most amps require the following to be run in bridged mode ~

You will connect the positive (+) output on the left amp channel to the positive input on your sub. Then you connect the negative (-) output on the right amp channel to the negative input on your sub. Some (not all...not even most but some) amps will have a switch on the side that needs to be moved to the appropriate location if the amp is to be run in bridged mode but if you find no switch that is labeled with options something akin to: "Stereo / Mono / Low Impedence" (or something to that effect) then disregard that bit of extraneous information. Most likely your Sony will be like most amps out there nowadays that automatically detects stereo or bridged operation. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks for the help. Just trying to work with what I already have and purchase the least amount of new gear.

If the amp bridged is at 500 W rms. The speakers are kenwood KFC w3009 and only rated at 200w rms/ 800 watt peak. I dont know if speakers would handle the power which leads to another question.

when I turn the gain up past about 7/10 thenths of the way. the current subs start to thump about 2 times a second. any Idea why?

Thats why I thought mabey I could get away only buying another amp and not turning gain up because I cant anyways and still mabeyy not blow speakers.

I wondered about the ground myself and tried a diferrent location once. I will try another spot again. Mabey to the battery. The thumping that hapens occurs even when volume is supper low.. Just a steady thump thump thump.

Any Ideas on speakers and blowing them if I did get another amp and bridged it. I dont really know claimed actual output/ power handling to reailty. Sony amp says 500 w rms. Kenwood 12s say 200 rms/800 peak.

Also I am running two amps presently off same ground but that shouldn't matter I wouldn't think. The thumping starts happening whenever I trun the gain of either amp up to high.

You were right on the money about the ground. I already had it grounded to the battery but apparently cable wasn't thick enough. added a 2nd ground and thumping stopped. Can turn gain all the way up now if I want.

If I bought a new amp I would probably blow these kenwoods now?
