How the **** did I blow my sub?

he wont be able to get it dead center, but he could clean the ferrite/top plate, put a small amount of whatever adhesive he wants to use on the ferrite/bottom plate then try to place it the top plate down on the bottom plate as close to centered as possible, then use a mallet to carfully hit various spots on the side of the top plate to try to center it up even more
edit: i know this works because ive had to do it before
i don't know how you did it, it is **** near impossible. i spent the last 2 hours trying to get it to line up, it will not do it. i tried the hammer method to try to get it centered, it does not budge. i will bet $50 nobody on here can get it to line up, with both of them charged, it has a mind of its own. perhaps your method would work on a smaller/less powerful motor.

and if i was not careful doing it, i easily could've lost a finger doing it, that magnetic charge ain't no joke.

I'm gonna send a message to RE in hopes they can help me, this is what I would consider to be a manufacturer defect rather then user error.

it was ridiculously hot out today, perhaps i did bottom it out and it knocked it out of place? i'll take a mallet to it tomorrow to see if i can move it.
no, bottoming it out had nothing to do with it. This was probably a manufacturing defect. It does occur from time to time. If the steel and or magnet is not perfectly flat, then the structure glue used will not cure properly.

There is zero chance of align that gap back up, its a magnet... think about it. Its going to stick to one side or the other. And a gap needs to be within a few thousands of an inch.... good luck getting that to happen with a hammer.

the motor is junk, the softparts are junk... .throw it away unless you want to redeem the aluminum frame as a recycling plant for a few dollars.

You are correct. I realize that now (after I spent 2 hours trying to align it). I may try to make a stool or something out of it, lol. I sent an email to RE Audio to see if they could assist me at all.

maybe im just a lucky bish but i got it to happen with a 5lb deadblow hammer

Edit: the motor was a Tc9 based LMS

Eh we can re align it if you wish...40 bucks plus shipping both ways...
$40 + $40 for shipping = $80. Plus another $100 for a recone would be $180 total. I bought the two 10"s for $300 shipped, so I might as well buy a new one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

you minus well, RE isn't going to honor the sub either. plus, you bought them used off someone else. minus well buy a new one or another used one.

the impala was silver, and my teammates. the black yaris next to it is my gf's and thats what i was going to compete with. the setup had some good numbers in it too.
