How the **** did I blow my sub?

Looks like the glue that holds the pole piece got too hot and let the pole slide. If the subs were mounted vertically did the pole move towards the bottom of the box? If so that's a pretty solid overheating indicator.
the subs were mounted with the cone facing up, magnets down.

Figured it out. The mother****er who sold me the sub must've reconed the sub, put a 10" basket on it and instead of bolting it down, used gorilla glue inside the bolt holes. So the basket actually shifted, making it appear that the pole piece is shifted. I'll have pics up tomorrow, I'm tired and pissed right now. I have to assume my other SX 10" is the same way. So because the idiot who reconed them used gorilla glue instead of bolts I have two subs that basically need new recones.

thats ****ing gay....I'd ask for some money...

after looking at the pics again, you can see that he used gorilla glue for the entire recone... what a terrible idea
Yeah.... Hopefully he is a stand up guy and we can make this situation right. I would expect better from the guy with the loudest StreetMax 1-2 in the US. (according to his profile.)

CA glue is what? a few more bucks then Gorilla Glue?

yeah, not very expensive stuff but he could have just spent 2 dollars for the correct bolts at his local hardware store

Of course $2 for the bolts, but if you look, even the cone was glued with gorilla glue. However the spider was glued with CA??? Figure that one out.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif that is not gorilla glue. that is the glue they use on those speakers.

when i dis assembled an SX 12 i had a long time ago it had the same glue, but as for the screws, they are givin a layer of glue above them so the screws do not come loose. you have to scrape the glue off to access the screws.

i have a 6 spoke basket from an early 04 XXX 18. it has the exact same glue around the top and spider area. i'll give you pics tomorrow after work.

your basket did not shift, why? look at the 2 other screw holes for the basket. they still align up to the mounting area. if the basket would have shifted, you wouldn't see those holes...

what it looks like is the top plate glue has come loose and shifted. i can clearly see the magnet in the gap, that means the bottom plate and all the magnets are still aligned. it's the top plate that shifted taking the basket with it.
