i don't see why others have knocked it. I've used norton, mcafee, spybot and others but they just don't perform. And they're constantly slowing down my laptop but now if avast i barely even know that its running.

lol you need help bad....

I actually use Avast & SpyBot. The new versions of Spybot with the tea time watcher, if used correctly stops all non-sense.

Saying that I never have a problem isn't completely true. The computer always gets glitchy after a year or two of constant torture so I do re-format it once every year or two.

The only problems I ever have are with my GF's Apple computers ...

With the exception of 1 dead hard drive several years ago, I have had absolutely no issues with any of the 4 desktops and 1 laptop that I've owned over the last decade.

My/My GF's Macs, however ...

iMac in for repair 4 times since purchased in August 2007. Multiple parts replaced each time. Still heats up like a m0therfvcker (if it's on for more than 3 hours, you'll burn your hand if you touch the top left corner) ... As soon as it's out of warranty, I'm watercooling it.

Macbook's battery, for whatever reason, just decided it would stop charging the other day. No warning ... Hell, I used it on battery for about 4 hours last weekend while on a bus/ferry trip and it still had plenty of life left. Oh and the AC adapter died after about a month.
