Ok, so I have an Infinity Kappa Perfect 12dVQ (dual voice coil) with a resistance of 4 ohms per coil. It is rated at 400W RMS / 1600W Peak. My amp is a JBL BP600.1 which outputs 600W when seeing a 2 ohm load. Correct me if I'm wrong, but by wiring the two 4 ohm voice coils in parallel, the amp will see a 2 ohm load. That being the case, do you guys think that the 600W output will be too much for the sub? Isn't it also true that by wiring the voice coils in series, the amp would see an 8 ohm load? In that case, it seems like the amp would only be able to get something like 150 watts to the sub (which seems like it would ****). I also have a JBL P180.2 which, when bridged, would feed the sub somewhere around 180W at 8 ohms (I guess it's better than 150). Thoughts? Ideas?
