how old is your head unit

The one in my truck right now: Little under 2 years

The one I'm installing today: Brand New //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/woot.gif.aaa6090e619a97b6090d16dd863c5a69.gif

I think my Alpine 7998 will be three this year in June, got it in 2004 if I recall correctly. Prior to that I had a Kenwood KDC-PS909 and an Alpine 7949.

Alpine CDA-7941 just like my signature from 1998 or 99, dont remember.
Believe it or not, its still brand new, never been mounted or even powered up because I didnt have a car I felt worth the effort until recently.
I hope it works. I've heard of headunits that sit for a long time without being used have some problems. The silicone used for the CD spindle dries up and it will not turn the disc. Not saying you'll have those problems but I had a Denon DCT-950R I bought of ebay that had never been used and it won't spin a CD.

To answer the original question of the thread.

I have the following.

Premier 860 - over 3 years old and running great

Premier P9 - 5 months old and hasn't been fired up yet

Premier 920 - 5 years old and works fine (atleast it did when I tested it a year ago)

Eclipse 5331 - 13 years old and it worked fine when I used it 2 years ago.

The XXV-01D I'm currently running is an '05 model deck that I purchased new in Feb of '06 so that one as far as use goes is about 14-15 months old.

The KDC-X679 that it replaced was bought new by me in April of '04 so three years old now. It was just on my test bench yesterday and works 100%. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The only other deck I currently possess that's actually mine is the last cassette receiver I ever purchased...a Kenwood, naturally, a KRC-608 and if I recall correctly I bought it new back in either '99 or 2000. It was on my test bench about a week ago and it also still works 100%...even the calendar memo function where you can program in reminders for whatever date(s) and upon turning it on during the day(s) that have memos programmed into it the reminder scrolls across the display until you hit a button.

The Jensen HU I'm trying to sell for a friend is of indeterminate age because I know nothing about it's history excepting knowing where the person that owns it purchased it.

My current hu is 3 months old. It replaced a 5 year old hu...which is in my brother-in-law's truck.

I usually keep them as long as they work, sound good and nothing new is significantly better for my budget range.
