How much WRMS with a 1.5 Ohm load?

Hey Guys.

I have a pair of JL Audio 8 Inch W6-D4's. These two drivers require 200 WRMS EACH and have DUAL voice coils.

I want to wire the coils AND the drivers in Parallel as diagramed by JL Audio themselves to present a 1.5 Ohm load

The specifications of these drivers are as follows:

Pt (Continuous thermal power handling): 200 WRMS

Re (DC resistance): 10.6 OHM (in series)

Znom (nominal impedance): 6 Ohm

Voice coils: 2

My questions are the following:

If what I have read and discovered is correct, wiring both of the drivers in the above mentioned configuarion will give me a 1.5 Ohm load. Is this correct?

AND, if so... With the below mentioned Amp, if I do have a 1.5 Ohm load, driving them from one amp with the following Specs would give me a total of 525 WRMS X 1, or 262.5 X 2????????????????

Amp: Alpine MRD-M301

350 X 1 WRMS (2 Ohm @ 14.4V)

175 X 1 WRMS (4 Ohm @ 14.4V)

The conclusion I drew is that with a resistance with this Amp at 1.5 Ohms, the Amp will produce 525 WRMS. Am I correct?

Also, just a quick one... is 14.4V produced when the engine is on, and is it only 12V when the engine is off?

Thankyou to anyone who replies...

if they are D4's, then the impedance is not 6 ohms, its 4 ohms. Therefore the load you can get is 1 ohm, or 4 ohms. No matter what, you cannot run Alpine mono amps below 2 ohms.

Also, your car when on, is theoretically at 14.4V (but never is), and when the key is off, at 12V.

i second that on the 1 or 4 ohm load for the pair. that amp is not going work for those two subs.

you could wire one sub in parallel to that amp for a 2 ohm load and it would power it fine.....but thats about it.

hey one problem, not to argue, but it says on the box the subs came in AND on the web site that they are 6 ohm. remember that these are D4's and are probably 3 years old now, perhaps new W6's are 4 ohm? and therefor these amps WILL run of this amp. thoughts???

also, i may be able to wire the subs differrently to gain a different oad that would be 2 ohm or higher, would this work?

any help would be appreciated, this is driving me nuts!

ta guys...

ta guys...
you say they are d4's....D4=dual 4 ohm, but then you say 6 ohm too. thats making this confusing...

but...

after looking at jl's subwoofer line up, it appears the 8w6 only came at a dual 6 ohm, never dual 4 ohm.

so...

assuming they are dual 6 ohm, you can wire them both to either 1.5 ohms, or 6 ohms. so again, your amp isn't going to work for this setup. the dual 6 ohm subs work best in a configuration of 3 because then you can wire them at 1 or 4 ohms and its easy to find an amp for that setup.

oh, starting to make sense.... any ideas why they say 6 ohm???? pretty weird..

so, in summary, i need an amp that will reciprocate with the subs @ 1.5 or 6 ohm, yes?

hey btw, i like ur stez setup but i LOVE your car! id love grand cherokee's!
