how much wood would i need?

Dude USE the calculator, get a basic idea of what size u want the box based off your cars space. Put the numbers into it and it will say airspace. Get your measurements right then add them up. Dont forget port displacement, if ure having this much trouble figuring out how much wood to use u may just want to have someone build u a box... i hear ported boxs can be tricky to build correctly. Its only like 30-40bucks more to have someone build it

Calculators, Charts, and Diagrams

Sealed boxes are much easyer to build. A DC lvl 3 would sound just as good sealed as a ported SA12, and use less space. SA may get a bit louder for its tuned area but not a big diff. DC subs are made to be sealed

yeah but i have no idea what to do and how to figure out whether ill need more wood or not

Buy two sheets.

Why? B/C you'll probably screw something up. Nothing's worse than running out of materials when making a box b/c you have to either change the dimensions or ghetto it together. Unfortunately, people often choose Option #2.

While you're at the hardware store; see if you can rent a nail gun. That's a lot easier & cheaper than fabbing up some clamps or buying clamps to let the glue set. Countersinking drywall screws is OK I guess...but all you really need is a few small nails to hold the box together while the glue dries.
