just a simple box for a 15" bl... like 3.1 NET at 32 hz

and carpeted.

just curious what a reasonable price would be. i dont build boxes alot for people, so i dont know how the pricing should be set.

i build mine for 225$ and down. i'd probably ask 175$. subtract material from that, then divide that number, by the hours you put in. the faster you are, the better.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

fleece from JoAnn fabrics is $7.99 a yard, that would probably cover the whole thing.. $23 for mdf, $8 for glue and screws, $8 or more for fabric of choice.

For a friend... $20 over your material cost. no more than $100 total though for a regular person for that box

shit i just got "volunteered" by my future mother-in-law to build a box for 4 12"s for someone at her work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif, I will only charge $100 probably, as long as i can do it with 1 sheet of mdf

Care to break down your supply prices as I'm curious how it would only cost you $50 including carpet...
It depends on what carpet you get. $50 was a rough estimate. $25 for MDF, $5 for glue, caulk, screws and $20 for carpet. 3 hours worth of work, $50/3 = $16.5 an hour.

i have one of those 20lb buckets of screws, and no lie, it never gets lighter...its like never ending, and it seems that i use alot, which i do, but it still stays the same lol...

you can also paint the box. a coat of primer and flat black paint costs 15$. you have to spend a little extra time sanding, but make a little more profit. i also do a coat of satin lacquer, which adds 7-8$. i buy primer in gallons, so actual cost on primer for me is about 1$ per box i build. most people don't buy primer like that though, so it'll cost you 8$ or so. you might need 2 cans.

Unless its a good friend and not just someone you kinda know and talk to now and then, I'd charge labor

just go based on materials, and then usually roughly double that, gives a decent labor price

also, it depends on where you are, for example a box that takes 2 sheets of MDF may cost you 20 bucks less than it costs me or someone else to build
