How much should a 250 watt RMS sub put out?

stop giving advice if you dont know what your talking about...learning isnt telling people the wrong things..
He actually did not really give advice. He warned me he was new and did not really know if he was right.

you may be wired out of phase.wire the sub to the amp,the way the amp says to bridge.take the sub positive to whichever positive that the amp says and same with negative.should hit nicely, atleast enuff to vibrate your rearview mirror a little.if the sub is wired out of phase(backwards)it will sound like what you are describing. If nothing else just wire it off of 1 channel of the amp and see how that does instead of trying to bridge it....keep us posted.
Ok im going to go try that right now thanks!

Yeah 30hrtz you own! That was the problem! I feel like an idiot now. Its shakes my car pretty good now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif before my 15 watt 6x9s were over powering the sub lol

The diagram in the manual is wrong which is pretty messed up

well I am glad that answered your questions I am sorry that I gave wrong ideas but I would love for someone to tell me how to figure out gains on amps with subs
Its cool. You did not mess me up in any way. Its not like you were saying that you were positive thats what I should do. You gave me plenty of warning that your suggestion could be wrong.

Why is everyone replying to just set it to half and you should be fine. Get a dmm and set your gains properly...read the thread on how to do it so you can set the amp to give exactly 250wrms to the sub. Its in the stickies i believe.

thanks for the advice I was the one that said about the amp halfway and I also said I was new and didnt know for sure I am glad someone was able to tell me how to do it thanks again and I appreciate the insight

with out knowing your preout voltage, and the input voltage of you amp noone can even give you a good guess where to set the gains. if you have an amp w/ a max input voltage of 8v and a hu w/ and output voltage of 8v then you WOULD set your gains to 0.

also, its in a small sealed box. how much are you really expecting out of it???

The wiring diagram in the manual was wrong. That was the problem. It was not giving me hardly any bass. The rear speakers were over powering it. I was definitely expecting more then that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It sounds great now though

I set my gains to like 2/5 the way up. It doesnt seem like the sub is in any danger

Where can I get a DMM? I cant find one to buy on a good site
