how much power for the FI Q's?

here's the thing:

save myself about $300, and go with one 18" pushing 1kw, or spend the extra cash and go woth the two 12"'s

i just don't know if it would be worth it or not??

should i save myself the $300 or so and just get one 18" pushing 1kw, or shell out the extra cash and go with two 12"s, at 500w per??

what would the differences in sound be??

Sound deadening helps alot in SQ by reducing outside noise. try raamat.. raamaudio.com Processing, you would need that if you want to go active and then you can really tweak your system.

if your truly into sq you will end up spending a lot more than 300 on matting and processing. plus your comps are gonna run you another at least 300 or so for good sq comps. but the 18 is not going to have the sq of the 12's but the 18 will get louder assuming that both of these are in their correct enclosure's. if you truly want good sq get the 12's or even a single 12 or 10. you dont want your bottom end to over power, thats not good SQ.

if your looking for sql then the 18 will probly get the job done.

so you're saying 10"s and 12"s have more sq than a 18" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif:confused:

are you sure?

1. Speakers that can be used for good SQ need not cost $300. They might not cost half that if you know what you're doing.

2. Cone area does not affect SQ in the least.

3. I do agree with the last sentence, and the first //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

a 12 inch cone physically cannot distort as much a larger cone, its just not possibe not that i have done this before but i would bet that if you put a weight hanging off of one edge of the cone on 12 vs a 15 or 18 for that matter that the one with the largest cone would have the most deflection in the cone. not that anything like that actually happens im just saying its physically impossible for a smaller cone to distort more than a larger cone.

and yes i guess you could get buy with a good comp set for 150 or so but you can get some really great ones for around 300

i would go with 2 12" IDQv3s i promiss it will be more than loud enough and they sound amazing my man. I have a blinkodog had his 18' Q with 1krms sealed and ported and it sounded good in both, but i prefer a single 10" IDQv3. Also trey803 had a 10" sealed with 1krms and it was messed up from factory so we couldnt really tell anything.... i really want to compare it to my IDQ sealed in the same box with same power. I think it would be a great test and its very possible if only fi would let trey know whats going on.

2 12" IDQv3 with 500rms a piece sealed would be a very, very nice sub stage IMO

So you have no personal experience to back that up? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
