how much power for the FI Q's?

FI's website lists 1kw rms for all the Q's, from the 10's to the 18's. why would i hit an 18 with the same amount of power as a 10??

I'm looking at picking up one 15 or 18. what would be an ideal amount of power for these sizes?? I'd assume quite a bit more than just 1k...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

or you could just tell me everything i need to know :p

no, but seriously... what would you do?? i'm going for max SQ in a sealed environment.. been looking at some DB Drive amps.. but they have such variety, i'm not sure what to go with.. 1000w, 1300w, 1600w, and 1900w... so what you think for the 15" and 18" FI Q?

also.. i've never really heard the difference between a single 15" and 18".. would it be a significant difference between the two??

If you plan on running that much power i'd invest in the bp power option...

We really don't suggest over 1300 watts on a 'stock' Q..things start to get iffy after that...

Thanks!

generally the larger one will be louder with more cone area. You might need a pretty big box for the 18 so be sure u have the space, although sealed would call for a smaller box. I also haven't heard many SQ setups with an 18in...

generally if your going for sq you would want to use more smaller drivers. the q has very good low end extension in any size espichally sealed so you might be better suited with 2-3 12's or 4-5 10's plus the smaller cones physically cannot distort as much as a larger cone.

if you're going for max SQ, then you shouldn't be worrying about how much watts you can throw to a sub.

you can throw less than the subs rms and be fine.

right.. so if instead of doing one 18" Q, i dropped to two 12"' Q's, could i still get away pushing 1kw total, without sacrificing anything?

how about switching to the SSD's?

argh... now i'm confused... :-/

am i overthinking this?? i just want the best setup, for the best price!! why dies this seem so difficult!?

you are putting too much focus on your subs. The sub should the last thing to worry about when aiming for SQ. Subs only play ~80hz and below. 80hz to 20hz, that's only a range of 60hz.

I think you should choose your subs according to what you can match it with up front.
