how much power can a Z3 take?

And you think a zcon will handle 2400W thermal power indefinitely?
Dunno what you plan to pay for a Sundown Z, but IMO they are one of the best "mid line" subs out there.
i wouldnt say that they are middle of the line... the sa series is but the z's are a step above...

 
I would say Zcon is the better bet, similar price range and seems thermally capable of taking on 2400. I bet the Z3 can take it but only in a perfect setup.

I can see the thread now "My sub is rated 2200W and I'm powering it with an AQ 2200 why am I smelling burning". Answers will be "voltage drop" "dirty power" "do a big 3", the normal tripe....everything except that a 3" coil just can't dissipate that much heat over a long period of time.

The fact is if you know what you're doing you can power most of these level subs with much more power, but be prepared to bump into thermal limits depending on your listening habits and other variables.

I wonder if SSA warranty's burnt voice coils?
