x2.around my way...if you want a very good job...its gonna cost between $2000-$4000. I really depends if they have to do alot of stripping, rust/dent removal. If the paint is just faded but not cracked....its alot cheaper than if the paint itself is cracked and needs stripped and reprimed.
DIY isnt always cheaperx2.
do yourself a favor, and do your own body work. you could cut the cost of your paintjob in half if you had a lot of body work that needed to be done, but you did it yourself instead of having the shop do it.
Unless you have body work experience, I would have to disagree on doing your own body work. It takes alot of time and patience to get it right and that is why a shop gets paid for what they do (good shops anyway) Ther is alot that goes into fixing and dent the right way. It would really **** to get a nice black paintjob and be able to see the dent that YOU fixed. Remember this as well....alot of body shops won't come behind someone elses work and finish it up. I know I wouldn't, but if they do, they will probably charge you the same amount as if they had to do it all. Around here, a quality paintjob with bc/cc on a normal size car would be around $1000, Fullsize truck, $1500. Now to really finish a vehicle off and make it slick you need a color sand and buff which will run you $2000 for car and $3000 for fullsize truck. You really get what you pay for when it comes to a paintjob.x2.

hahahaha NO! Like the next post says, DIY isnt always cheaper, especially after it is painted and IF something goes wrong they can always blame cracking of paint or anything else that goes wrong on the car they can blame on improper body work, that is the LAST thing you want.x2.
