How much did you pay for your Avalanche, Rl-p

You will deffinately notice a difference in output between a single 12 and a single 15, and it should be quite substantial if your setup is done correctly.
The more fair comparison, as noted above, would be an rl-p 15 vs avalanche 15.

I don't have any experience with the rl-p, but I've got the avalanche and I can tell you that you will not be disappointed in it at all, it is a great sounding driver...very smooth and quite loud.

Compared head to head with an SX, it is louder off a bx1000d, and not quite as loud when the SX gets a dei1100d (although we switched cars when we switched amps too, to a smaller car...). Beyond that point of comparison, and a comparison to the 15A, which is probably more relevant since it's a TC9 driver, that I could give you if interested I will just say it's a great sub.

From what I hear though, people are having great experiences with the rl-p's as well, supposed to be pretty badass, so I doubt you'd be disappointed either way, as long as you went with 15's. If it's a 12 vs 15 decision, get the avalanche.

OT:

I've got an idea...that rl-p 12 would fit perfectly with the raffle budget this month...hmm.

how come i didn't hear such a big difference between a single 12" magnum and single 15" brahma? i think it was because my 15" box was 3.2 cubes net and the 12" box was 2.5 cubes net.

so i use the formula of pi * r^2 with the radius of the cone itself then add half the width of the surround?
You don't need to use any forumla; Sd is a basic parameter that most manufacturers will give you. Plus, it will be basically impossible for you to do the calculation, because you would need to know the measurements of the driver (since a 12" sub doesn't have a 12" cone, etc).

Don't hold me to this as I'm not totally sure, but I think it's a bit more complicated than that due to the fact that the cone is concave. It wouldn't be too hard to figure out though, and that's the general idea.

i didn't find any sd value at soundsplinter's website. why couldn't i just measure the radius of the cone and figure the area and add half the surround?

http://adireaudio.com it says the brahma has 749 cm^2 for sd so is that the total cone area for a brahma 15 or do i have to also add half the surround or has that already been added?
No. Sd is the effective radiating area for the speaker. If they list an Sd, it will be all-inclusive and accurate.

Like I said, Sd is something most companies either already list, or will give you upon request. There really is no need to ever calculate it yourself.

**** Mike is awsome, he said they where out of Rl-p 12's right now but there is a fresh batch coming off the assembly line late next week. This is my plan 12" Rl-p getting 700rms at 2 ohms via hifonicsbx1000D, not sure on the box specs but I am highly capable in building ported boxes so it shouldent be a problem. I want something tuned very low, like around 28 hertz maybe 2.5 cubes after displacement??Not to sure on how many cubes Ill ask Mike. Also what should I expect to pay in shipping??

P.S THREAD JACKERS!!!!!!! lol

Sounds like it'll be a very nice setup //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

Depends on where you are located.....but shipping to here in NE Indiana was ~$25 for my single 12" Rl-p IIRC.
