How much did you pay for your Avalanche, Rl-p

Im debating on which sub to get

Right now a 12" Rlp is $229

And a 12" Avalanche is $299, are these prices right?

From what I heard these subs are pretty even perfromance wise? I also heard that soundsplinter was running out of subs or something, correct me if Im wrong.

Also a question on wiring. The Rlp is DVC right so thats no problem for me, but the acsendent audio subs are all weird. There is two set of voice coils but your not suppose to power the gold terminals, so is this like a SVC driver??

your right swimfreak, I ment to say 15"

So a 12" RLP would be $229 and a 15" avalanche would be $299

What one would you guys choose to go along with a Hifoics bx1000D at either 1x1000 at 1 ohm or 1x500 at 2 ohm.....

i really like my RL-p. what kinda box you got for it? when i ordered mine they were out of dual 2 ohm ones which is the one you want. they probably should have some in stock now. i would get the rl-p and run the brutus at 1000 @ 1 ohm and read the gain tutorial.

It would be a little more fair to compare an rl-p 15 to an avalanche 15. An avalanche 15 is going to destroy an rl-p 12 in output simply because it has nearly twice the cone area. Now, if they are the same size thats another story, which it appears noone can honestly answer since I dont think anyone has compared both head to head yet. I have a feeling it would be pretty close though.

the difference between a single 15 and a single 12 is not going to be that great. i doubt you would hear a difference, maybe on a mic you will notice a difference. the cone are of a single 12 is 113 inches vs. 176 on a 15. not a large difference but i don't think an avalanche 15 would neccessarily destroy and rl-p 12.

Sd of a 12" Rl-p is 471cm^2. Avalanche 15" has an Sd of 749cm^2. Counting in Xmax (which the Avalanche has slightly more of), and you are pretty darn close to double the displacement. You would likely hear the difference.

why doesn't any one understand that?

and $229 for an RL-p 12....i paid less than that for my 15;)

slightly used....but i saved a bunch of money on my car insurance //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

well i'm going by personal experience too. i ran a single 12 with same amp in same car and then went to a 15 with higher tuning and the difference wasn't that much greater. i thought you figure out cone area by doing pi * r^2?

You will deffinately notice a difference in output between a single 12 and a single 15, and it should be quite substantial if your setup is done correctly.

The more fair comparison, as noted above, would be an rl-p 15 vs avalanche 15.

I don't have any experience with the rl-p, but I've got the avalanche and I can tell you that you will not be disappointed in it at all, it is a great sounding driver...very smooth and quite loud.

Compared head to head with an SX, it is louder off a bx1000d, and not quite as loud when the SX gets a dei1100d (although we switched cars when we switched amps too, to a smaller car...). Beyond that point of comparison, and a comparison to the 15A, which is probably more relevant since it's a TC9 driver, that I could give you if interested I will just say it's a great sub.

From what I hear though, people are having great experiences with the rl-p's as well, supposed to be pretty badass, so I doubt you'd be disappointed either way, as long as you went with 15's. If it's a 12 vs 15 decision, get the avalanche.

OT:

I've got an idea...that rl-p 12 would fit perfectly with the raffle budget this month...hmm.
