I bid on this and have the truck to fit it. Only problem is the owner of it can't/hasn't answered most of my questions all that well. The other part is he says $60.00 to ship it but I showed him the best I could that he was figuring the package details all wrong and it should only run $22.00 to ship it. He also won't ship it FedEx //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

$60 + $60 to ship= Can I build it for less? How much would it cost?

Since he can't really figure the volume size for me, doesn't know the thickness of the wood, has no pictures of it installed, etc.... it makes me leary of trying to win it. I does look correct for my next project... The Truck!.... but ****!

It looks like he changed the shipping charges now down to $30.00 but he still has it wrong. It IS NOT an irregular package. I even sent him the definitions according to his preferred shipper... USPS.

You could probably build it yourself for $60 total.

I'm assuming those small holes are supposed to be ports? Doesn't look like there's any depth to them (could be wrong), in which case you don't want that box anyways.

Also, if they are ports, you may want to find out the tuning.

Beyond that, a little advice. Right now your selling point is that the box is made for your vehicle. That is great and all, but a box should be designed first and foremost for the drivers you'll be using. If he can't tell you the volume, *tuning?*, type of wood, ect. I wouldn't even consider bidding on it.

Nah don't bother buying from him if he can't answer questions about his own thing that he's selling. 1 sheet of 3/4 MDF runs about $20, glue, nails, and silicone will probably be another $20. The hard part is actually building it and cutting the wood the exact size. If you are familiar with cutting wood have some one else do it for you. You can always try on your own but boxes need to be very accurate.

Thanks for the bone!

He has some of the answers but not all. It is 3/4" MDF. It has port inserts that aren't pictured (he says he has them). I kind of really wanted a sealed box though I think.

My most important question is what way of firing works best in an extended cab truck? Down, up, forward?

Just build your own. If you do it yourself, you will enjoy it more. Im downfiring my subs in my extended cab silverado. I dont have the room to point them forward and I dont think pointing them up would help with the seat right above it. Thats for me though. Mine are going under my seat.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Good luck.

The nice thing about Home Depot/Lowes (in my area anyway), is that when you buy a sheet of wood, they'll do the first 5 cuts for you for free...no angle cuts though, unless you get a cool employee that knows what your building and will help you out with it. And each additional cut is only $.25. So, all you have to do is figure out the dimensions. There are members on here (Jmac, MoeLester??, etc.) that will draw up box plans for you for around $10. You just need to give them the dimensions/space constraints.

The nice thing about that box is it looks to have all the right dimensions and fits under the seat as-is. If I do it I put serious thoughts into raising the seat. I figured if I could get it cheap enough it would be worth a try. I bid $50.00 in it since the shipping puts it near $100. Not going any higher!

Hopefully I can figure it all out and have the system in the Z-71 up and running shortly.

Hopefully I can get the ports right and order some subs to fit. Then all I need is one amp to drive them. Anyone want to venture a guess or help me figure out the box volume if it has a divider in the middle? Dimensions are listed and the board material is 3/4".

I am thinking RE SE-10's or maybe ID 10's. Fits without a seat lift too. I think I still want the top portion of my seat to flop forward so I can get at the amps so what needs done there?

Suggestions?
