these days i say the best is alpine and kenwood, pioneer has lost its luster these last few years imo and kenwood has really stepped it up, and alpine is still doing good stuff, maybe not as good as it was, but still nice units

I never understood the appeal with Alpine. I mean you get the same quality stuff through Pioneer for far cheaper. Personally I never cared for anything they ever made. To me they are overrated.

HA Alpine is better quality period they are built better and make anything you connect to it even the stock speaker sound good but they make anything sound great. I have had 2 pioneers and the first stopped ejecting discs before a year was up. My neighbor has a 14 year old alpine deck that works just as good as the day he got it and its motorized. All my alpine decks have had O problems.

With all due respect you're full of it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif J/K. It sounds to me you've had bad luck with Pioneer and great luck with Alpine. I've been into car audio since the late 80s. I have owned many decks such as Denon, Alpine, Eclipse and of course Pioneer. The 2 that I had the most problems with were the Denon and the Alpine with Eclipse finishing 3rd. The only brand of decks I've never had major problems with was my Pioneers. And to say Alpines make anything sound better doesn't make any sense. Any aftermarket deck will make stock speakers sound better.

So while I agree you've had bad luck with Pioneer that does NOT make your blanket statement true. The 2 Alpines I've had felt very cheap to me. But I never had one of their high end decks either. I now use the Pioneer P9 combo and it's built like a tank and operates flawlessly. Not to mention it sounds STELLAR!!!

So I guess I have to agree with the guy that said Pioneer gives a better bang for the buck.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

for lower to mid price ones Panasonic rules. I have put in several and all that i know are still operating to my knowledge. Eclipse are nice from what i have seen I have only personally owned 1 eclipse and liked it very much and know it is about 10 years old and still working in another car. I have had alpine fail me for about 900 bucks along with pioneer and the mid level kenwood I am using now is OK but for the price expected better.

Its very sad that a very good manufacturer like Panasonic is leaving car audio now there is one less solid option out there. All Panasonic products are good both my opinion and consumer reports rating for the most part I have seen

Unfortunately electronics are not fail proof. PERIOD. I suggest anyone stick with a brand that has done them well over the years. My choice is Pioneer because their track record with me. Others have had good luck with different brands and I suggest they stick with them. It's all about preference and sadly enough, luck.

I agree it is sad about Panasonic. But more importantly it is a sad day for ALL mobile electronics. I mean who says they aren't just the first of many to get out of that market?? I hope not but whose to say with today's economy. I think Pana's biggest downfall was a lack consumer confidence in the car audio market. Most viewed them as "bargain" or "good bang for the buck". It's just the way it is I guess. Pioneer, Alpine and Eclipse have a SOLID reputation as "high end" aftermarket mobile audio mfgs. I think that has hurt Panasonic AND Kenwood for the most part.
